Tirzepatide is the medication sold as Mounjaro and Zepbound. Where semaglutide copies one gut hormone, tirzepatide copies two, GLP-1 and GIP. The practical difference is a stronger effect on appetite and on how your body handles insulin, which is why it produced the largest average weight loss of any prescription in head-to-head trials.
Alina runs tirzepatide the same way as our semaglutide program: a weekly visit for the injection and dose review, bloodwork where it matters, and coaching so the habits outlast the medication.
$490 per month, with no contract. Patients already on semaglutide who are struggling with side effects can try tirzepatide for one month at the semaglutide price of $375 before moving to the standard rate.
In SURMOUNT-1, adults on the 15 mg dose lost an average of 20.9% of body weight over 72 weeks (Jastreboff et al., New England Journal of Medicine, 2022). In the SURMOUNT-5 head-to-head trial, tirzepatide produced about 20% loss against 14% for semaglutide over 72 weeks. Many of our patients also find the nausea milder than on semaglutide, though that is individual.
The same GI effects as semaglutide, usually in the first weeks of each dose step. The same exclusions apply: medullary thyroid cancer or MEN2 history, pregnancy, and prior pancreatitis. Tirzepatide can reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptives for a few weeks after each dose increase. As with any GLP-1 medication, the plan for coming off it matters as much as the plan for starting.
