Semaglutide is the medication in Ozempic and Wegovy. It copies GLP-1, a gut hormone that tells your brain you are full and slows the stomach down, so a normal meal satisfies you and the between-meal pull toward food fades. Most patients eat noticeably less without the white-knuckle feeling that sinks diets.
At 4Ever Young STL MedSpa, Alina prescribes semaglutide inside a supervised program rather than as a standalone script. The weekly visit is the point: dose changes, side-effect management and the coaching that keeps the weight off once the medication stops.
$375 per month while your dose stays at or below 3 mg weekly. Patients who need a higher dose move to $490 per month. There is no separate consultation fee for the program and no long contract.
In the STEP 1 trial, adults without diabetes on 2.4 mg weekly semaglutide lost an average of 14.9% of body weight over 68 weeks, against 2.4% on placebo (Wilding et al., New England Journal of Medicine, 2021). Our patients typically see the first few pounds in the first month as the dose climbs, with steadier loss from month two onward.
Nausea, constipation and reflux are common in the first weeks and usually settle as the dose steps up slowly. Semaglutide is not prescribed for people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN2, during pregnancy, or with a history of pancreatitis. Weight regain is common when the medication stops without a maintenance plan, which is why the program ends with one.
If you have tried semaglutide and side effects were the problem, tirzepatide is the usual next step; we let eligible patients try one month of tirzepatide at the semaglutide price. Not sure which is right? Read semaglutide vs tirzepatide.
Yes, the same active medication. We dispense compounded semaglutide through a licensed pharmacy and adjust the dose to you.
Weekly visits are part of the program. They are short, and they are where the dose and side effects get managed.
Trial averages are around 15% of body weight over roughly 16 months. Individual results vary with starting weight, dose and how you eat.
Feeling tired, gaining weight, and losing your drive are easy to write off as just getting older. Often, though, they trace back to shifting hormones.
