PRP Treatment Pre and Post Care
Pre and Post Care Instructions
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) uses growth factors from your own blood to support tissue repair, collagen production, skin rejuvenation, and hair restoration. Following these instructions will help maximize your results and ensure a smooth recovery.
Pre Care
Increase Water Intake (24–48 Hours Before)
Drink plenty of water before your appointment.
Proper hydration helps improve blood collection and the quality of your PRP treatment.
Avoid Blood Thinners (5–7 Days Before)
If medically approved by your physician, avoid aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen (Aleve), fish oil, vitamin E, and other supplements that may increase bruising.
Avoid Alcohol (24 Hours Before)
Alcohol may increase bruising and can negatively affect platelet quality.
Avoid alcoholic beverages for at least 24 hours before treatment.
Avoid Smoking
Smoking may reduce circulation and interfere with the body’s natural healing process.
Eat A Healthy Meal
Eat a normal meal before your appointment.
PRP treatments involve a blood draw, and eating beforehand may help prevent lightheadedness.
Stay Hydrated
Continue drinking water throughout the day before your appointment.
Hydration helps support treatment quality and recovery.
Inform Your Provider
Please inform your provider if you have a bleeding disorder, blood disorder, active infection, cancer, are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking prescription blood thinners.
Arrive With Clean Skin
If PRP is being used for skin rejuvenation, please arrive with clean skin free of makeup, lotions, and skincare products whenever possible.

Post Care
Immediately After Treatment (First 24 Hours)
Avoid Touching The Treated Area
Avoid rubbing, scratching, massaging, or applying excessive pressure to the treatment area.
Avoid Excessive Sweating
Avoid strenuous exercise, heavy lifting, hot yoga, saunas, steam rooms, and excessive sweating for at least 24 hours.
Avoid Alcohol And Smoking
Avoid alcohol and smoking for at least 24 hours after treatment whenever possible.
These may interfere with the body’s healing process.
Avoid Anti-Inflammatory Medications
Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, and other anti-inflammatory medications unless directed by your physician.
PRP works by stimulating your body’s natural healing response, and anti-inflammatory medications may reduce this effect.
Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water after treatment to support recovery and tissue healing.
For The Next Few Days
Expect Mild Redness Or Swelling
Mild redness, tenderness, swelling, bruising, or sensitivity may occur depending on the treatment area.
These effects are usually temporary and improve within several days.
Use Gentle Skincare
If PRP was used on the face or skin, use gentle cleansers and moisturizers.
Avoid aggressive skincare products until the skin has recovered.
Avoid Excessive Sun Exposure
Protect treated areas from direct sunlight and wear SPF daily when appropriate.
Be Patient With Results
PRP stimulates natural tissue regeneration and collagen production.
Results develop gradually over time and continue improving as the body’s healing process progresses.
Follow Your Treatment Plan
Many patients achieve the best results through a series of treatments.
Follow your provider’s recommendations regarding future sessions and maintenance treatments.
