Hormone Pellet Optimization
Pre and Post Care Instructions
Hormone Pellet Optimization is a form of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy designed to help restore hormone balance in both men and women. Hormone pellets are inserted beneath the skin and gradually release hormones over time to help support energy, mood, mental clarity, metabolism, muscle mass, sleep quality, and overall wellness.
Following these instructions will help ensure proper healing and optimize your treatment results.
Pre Care
Complete Required Blood Work
Laboratory testing is required before treatment.
Your provider will review your hormone levels, symptoms, and medical history to determine whether hormone pellet therapy is appropriate for you.
Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water before your appointment.
Proper hydration supports overall health and may improve your recovery experience.
Eat A Normal Meal
Eat a regular meal before your appointment.
There is no need to fast before pellet insertion unless instructed otherwise by your provider.
Wear Comfortable Clothing
Wear loose-fitting clothing, especially around the hip and buttock area where the pellets are typically inserted.
This will help improve comfort following the procedure.
Inform Your Provider
Please notify your provider if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have active infections, are taking blood thinners, or have any significant changes in your medical history.
Avoid Scheduling Strenuous Activities
Try not to schedule intense workouts, heavy lifting, or physically demanding activities immediately after your appointment.

Post Care
Keep The Bandage In Place
Leave the pressure dressing in place for 24 hours unless instructed otherwise.
You may remove the outer bandage after 24 hours and leave any steri-strips in place until they naturally fall off.
Keep The Area Clean And Dry
Avoid soaking the insertion site for approximately 5 to 7 days.
This includes swimming pools, hot tubs, lakes, baths, and saunas.
Showering is generally permitted after 24 hours unless instructed otherwise by your provider.
Avoid Heavy Exercise (3–7 Days)
Avoid running, squats, lunges, cycling, heavy lifting, lower body workouts, or other strenuous activities that place stress on the insertion site.
This helps reduce the risk of pellet extrusion and promotes proper healing.
Expect Mild Bruising Or Soreness
Mild tenderness, swelling, bruising, or discomfort at the insertion site is common.
These symptoms typically improve over several days.
Avoid Excessive Pressure On The Area
Try not to repeatedly rub, massage, or place excessive pressure on the insertion site while it is healing.
Monitor The Insertion Site
Watch for signs of infection such as increasing redness, warmth, drainage, severe swelling, or worsening pain.
Contact our office if any of these symptoms occur.
Stay Hydrated
Continue drinking plenty of water after your procedure.
Hydration supports overall health and wellness.
Be Patient With Results
Hormone optimization is not immediate.
Many patients begin noticing improvements within several weeks, while others may require more time depending on their hormone levels, metabolism, lifestyle, and overall health.
Follow-Up Laboratory Testing
Follow-up blood work is often recommended to evaluate your response to treatment and ensure hormone levels remain within an appropriate range.
Your provider will discuss the recommended schedule for follow-up testing.
Continue Healthy Lifestyle Habits
Hormone optimization works best when combined with proper nutrition, regular exercise, quality sleep, stress management, and adequate hydration.
